"A"CTIONS to be taken in case of a collision
Police must be called to the scene when:
- The collision involves injury or death
- Criminal activity is suspected (eg. impaired driving, stolen vehicle, assault)
- Collision involves a suspended or uninsured driver
- Collision involves a Government vehicle (TTC included)
If Police assistance is NOT REQUIRED, then:
- Remove the vehicles from the roadway if possible to do so
- Exchange information with the other involved parties including eyewitnesses (see bottom of the page for details)
- As soon as possible, WITH YOUR VEHICLE, go to the Collision Reporting Center (CRC) closest to the accident scene.
"B"E aware, BE informed:
If your vehicle is not driveable and requires towing: be cautioned! Many tow truck drivers are routinley paid commisions based on a percentage of the total repair cost. The results can be shoddy and slipshod workmanship, frequently using non-certified aftermarket parts. Don't let this happen to you.

"C"OLLISION Reporting Centers:
A Collision Reporting Center is a Police facility created to assist motorists in reporting motor vehicle collisions. In the Greater Toronto Area, reporting centers are located at 39 Howden in Scarborough and 113 Toryork in North York are open 6:30 am to 1:30 am 7 days per week. No fees are charged to the motorists. All expenses are paid by Ontario's Insurers.
What information you need from the other driver:

- Address

- Driver's Licence Number and Expiry Date
- Province License is issued from
- License Plate number of other vehicle involved in collision
- The Make, Model and Year along with colour
- The registered vehicle owner's personal information
- Insurance company name
- Policy number and expiry date
